Íslenski Hesturinn Lóðr. Children’s Falls (insert) was namedText on back of card: The Icelandic horse (pictured in in winter coat) was originally brought to Iceland in the 9th century by Norwegian settlers. It played an integral part in Norse mythology and the Icelandic Sagas. The breed has remained pure and disease free since settlement, first due to isolation and later to laws prohibiting livestock import and cross breeding. The horse has five different gaits: walk, trot, canter, pace and the famous tlt.
