In conclusion, using disrupted molecular and behavioral circadian rhythms as a read-out for methyl metabolism deficiency, we show that the methyl cycle is highly sensitive to exogenous variations of its metabolites, and that excess SAM beyond endogenous levels, rather than promoting methylation, has negative consequences due to its catabolism to MTA and adenine by the methionine salvage pathway
