Building work has started on a prestigious new development of 8 city centre apartments on the site of an old garage premises at the back of London Road in Southampton City Centre. The site was marketed for sale with planning permission by Keygrove Chartered Surveyors and has been purchased by developers Waverley Equity Ltd. The 3-storey development will provide 6 x 2-bed and 2 x 1-bedroom apartments with associated cycle and refuse storage.
Andrew Archibald, Director of Keygrove says “It was known as Sibley’s Garage until the early 1990’s but had subsequently become neglected as businesses came and went. With the help of Toldfield Architects we designed a redevelopment that should improve the street scene in Asylum Road and provide much needed quality city centre housing. Despite the pandemic this year there was strong interest from developers and we are delighted that Waverley are getting on with the redevelopment.”
Philip Feibusch, Director of Waverley says “These new apartments will be high quality and are ideally located for city centre living being equidistant between the city centre and Southampton Common. We hope to complete the development by Winter 2021/2022 when the apartments will be available for sale.”
